My name is Toby, I am a highly experienced multimedia film composer and contemporary music producer of almost a decade, with a Master’s degree with Distinction in Sound Arts from the University of Arts London, and a bachelor’s degree with a first-class honour from dBs Music Bristol.

I have been following your work at MassiveMusic with admiration for a while now, and I’ve actually been in touch with a few of your team. I really respect your creative vision and your ability to build sonic narratives from seconds of identity work through to the longer form commercial work. Throughout mediums and across formats, you are able to represent your own brand identity, while shaping the virtual worlds for each individual brand through each unique project. I’m in complete awe of the work you did for the Intersport short film, I love how you managed to create such a subtle yet powerful sound that establishes the otherworldly landscape, bouncing from dissonant to harmonious & uplifting so smoothly, using the sound to really immerse us into that futuristic, dystopian world, it really reminds me of Ludwig Göransson’s work on TENET which is one of my favourite modern scores! The project that sounds out to me from your work is the North Face: Never Stop Exploring film, crafting a visceral sound environment with dark drones and atmospheric pulses that really establishes that otherworldly feeling that engulfs and immerses you into the North Face brand. I followed The Sound of TikTok project very closely over on LinkedIn, and I love how you described it as creating a Sonic DNA, this approach really shifted the way in which I think about music in the context of world-building and brand identity. That project really fascinated me in terms of revealing how you all think about music & sound and how it fits into the world of advertising and branding, building virtual sonic worlds from the ground up and establishing aesthetic sound environments, something I keep at the core of my creative approach. This is what I really admire about your craft, and what has inspired me in my own creative practice, this ability to build artificial worlds through sound and music that throws you deep into that environment. This idea of world-building with sound is something I keep at the heart of my own work, piecing together sound textures and motifs that forge and establish a sonic signature to that project, and this is where I believe I am the perfect fit both for the MassiveMusic ethos, as well as the creative environment within the team. I believe I have a lot to give within this sphere of music, and I believe my diverse skillset across a range of mediums, media formats and styles, as well as my unique creative approach, will allow me to become a genuine asset to the team and to really contribute to the creativity and culture at MassiveMusic, being able to create something new, something unique, something innovative, to be able to tell a story through the medium of sound.

As a music composer with almost a decade of experience creating innovative music projects at the cutting edge of sound, I have an advanced ability to shape sound and translate creative ideas into powerful sonic narratives, with years of experience translating written briefs & creative concepts into music & sound ideas, using sonic tools to build immersive sound worlds that create a narrative and tell a story. Creating bespoke music production & compositions for advertising, narrative film and a wide range of custom multimedia projects across disciplines & musical styles over the last 4 years, from hour-long fashion catwalks and audiovisual installations to 30-second short film trailers and social content, I have a highly advanced set of professional digital audio crafting skills, able to capture mood, emotion and aesthetics through the power of music that are both unique and accessible. I live and breathe film, and my all-time favourites are Ex Machina and 2001: A Space Odyssey, the art of music & the power of sound are what motivate me to keep developing my craft every single day, using my diverse skillset to create stories and build worlds through sound, the only thing I have always strived for is to be able to do this as a career, turning my passion into my life. This is where I believe I slot right into the culture at MassiveMusic, a studio just as passionate about the art of music & entertainment, a studio so passionate about harbouring the raw capability of music to create powerful sonic stories and being amongst a team of people who strive for the same things that I do, people who strive to innovate and create every single day in the same way that I have done every day for the last 10 years. 

Ultimately, the way in which I think about sound is what sets me apart from the crowd. I think of sound as a way of world-building, carefully crafting sonic textures and musical motifs to create a landscape of ambience. I don’t think about sound that technically, I think about sound emotively. Intuitively. What matters to me about my work is how it makes you feel. How it moves you. How it affects you on a deep emotional level. Not purely how it sounds. I believe this is evident in my work, I’m not a highly-trained classical musician, but I have trained my intuition to create, to trust in its emotion. My relentless drive and pure dedication to the art & craft of sound are what set me apart. The physical need to create something is what sets me apart. Art does not exist without creation, and creation does not exist without emotion. And what is life without art?

I am a Multimedia Composer and Contemporary Music Producer with a master’s degree with a Distinction in Sound Arts from the University of Arts London and a bachelor’s degree with a first-class honour from dBs Music Bristol.
