WHY ME?

Hey Ben. Hey Will.

When I came to visit you guys in Wakefield at the end of last year, I immediately felt incredibly comfortable and at ease. Spending the day with you guys at the studio felt right and so as soon as I saw your email that you were hiring for this position, I knew this was the opportunity for me.

Over the last 11 years of making music, I have crafted a unique approach to sound and audio narrative, from writing terrible EDM beats on my laptop after school in 2014 to building immersive sound worlds from the ground up that bring visual and narrative projects to life. I have composed award-nominated scores for award-winning films, I have created bespoke music for an official London Fashion Week catwalk that was heard by millions, I have had major music placements across Sky TV channels, and I have created an audio-visual installation entirely from scratch and by myself, learning how to code visuals and pushing my creativity to its limit time and time again. I have created music for many different mediums, gaining insight into different creative practices from dozens of multidisciplinary collaborators, and been able to find my voice by genuinely experimenting with my craft and pushing the boundaries of what it is I know. No matter the scale of any project, I always find a way to bring something new to the table, and even when the scale seems out of my reach, I invest hours into learning a new skill or tool that will allow me to create something bigger. Seeing first-hand the diversity of projects and disciplines you work across, much like myself through my creative practice, I believe this is the one trait that will make me the perfect fit to become a part of the WMP team.

I have a lot to contribute and I believe I have a very unique take on sound creation, unafraid to do something different and something new, to be bold in my artistic expression, and truly step outside of my comfort zone at every opportunity. I will never get bored of creating, I will never lose the drive to innovate, and I would love to be considered for this opportunity to become a part of the team and work with you guys at WMP (and make you some great coffee).

ABOUT ME

I am a Multimedia Artist and Interdisciplinary Creative with a Master’s degree with Distinction in Sound Arts from the University of Arts London, and a bachelor’s degree with a first-class honour from dBs Music Bristol.

I am an award-nominated Composer & Sound Designer based in Manchester, UK with a Master’s degree with Distinction in Sound Arts from the University of Arts London, and a bachelor’s degree with a first-class honour from dBs Music Bristol, creating scores & sound for award-winning short films, commercials, art installations and fashion projects, working with brands like Sky Creative, London Fashion Week, Paramount+ and London College of Fashion, and agencies like Molecular Sound and Silk Factory. With almost a decade of experience as an interdisciplinary sound & media artist, I create multimedia compositions, experimental audio-visual & installation work, and immersive sound works, crafting bold & unique worlds at the intersection of science, technology & media with an innovative creative approach releasing electronic music as Know You, with a catalogue totalling over 500,000 streams.

I have created bespoke music & sound design for advertisements, trailers, major fashion installations, branding projects and commercial films as well as award-winning short films, working with major brands and platforms, which has taught me with hands-on experience how much sound can shape a brand identity. I have a solid understanding of the workflow in Logic Pro, however, I do have a wealdth of transferrable skills from 8 years of working in Ableton Live, I understand the workflow of DAW systems so I if I am fortunate enough to work with you I will have no trouble learning the ins and outs of Logic in a few weeks. I have strong instrumental skills as a Grade 8 drummer and percussionist, and basic keyboard skills from 10 years of using MIDI keyboards as my primary hardware, but with an eagerness to learn and ability to pick up new skills quickly. Over the years I have worked with a vast range of multidisciplinary creatives, from musicians and songwriters to filmmakers and designers, which has taught me how to work both independently and as part of big teams, including working as Executive Audio Producer for teams of musicians.

My experience over the years has contributed to a unique sense of creative, conceptual, and strategic thinking. I am highly organised and detail-oriented. I’m certainly a perfectionist with my work, but I am very good at working under pressure and with tight deadlines without sacrificing content, something I have streamlined with good time management. Able to learn extremely quickly, I approach everything with an eagerness to learn new tools and develop my craft. With a relentless drive, I am a highly adaptable & flexible creative with a diverse and interchangeable skillset across mediums.
